The faculty of Mechanical Engineering Department consists of 16 full time members and 7 FTE adjunct members. Four members are Fellows of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2 are Distinguished Professors, 2 are Chair Professors, one is member of the National Academy of Science, two are members of the National Academy of Engineering, one is Fellow of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, one Fellow of the American Society of Mechanics, one Fellow of the V.D.I. and two Assoc. Fellows of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In 1993 and again in 1996 students and faculty of the ME department have received the prestigious Melville Medal of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers for the best original research paper in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
