General Research Interests:
  • Near Surface plasticity under contact load, including dislocation dynamics simulation of plastic deformation near a rough surface.
  • Meso-scale simulation of microstructure evolution in solid, including thin film stability, self-assembly, nano-pattern formation and etc.
  • Effects of stress on chemical reactions. Crack nucleation due to the stress-dependant chemical reactions.
  • Thin film and interface delamination. Failure and design rules for composite materials.
  •  
    Current Research Topics:
  • Surface plasticity and wear resistance.
  • Failure and design rules for laminar composite with ductile and brittle layers. Energetics and kinetics of stress dependent chemical reactions (etching or deposition). Crack nucleation due to the reactions, its threshold and time to nucleate.
